Vondrom-Bavaka

On February 2011, a few Malagasy families recently settled in Rockville, Maryland, decided to gather for a monthly bible study and prayer in their home. As the number of Malagasy people attending the prayer group is rapidly increasing, the Vondrom-bavaka DC gathering moved to the Wesley Theological Seminary on a monthly basis.

Description

The group is based on a voluntary membership and no membership fees are required to be part of the group. The Vondrom-bavaka is open to everyone who is willing to know more about living one’s faith as a loyal servant of Jesus Christ, regardless of age, gender, politic affiliation, and social status. It is a non-denominational group and everyone is welcome. On the 3rd Friday of each month, about thirty people gathered in Elderdice Room at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC, from 7pm to 10 pm. The meeting usually begins with a thirty minutes light snack that allows member to build connection with one another. Members take turn to volunteer in leadership; they may choose: Biblical themes followed with discussion or group works,  a sermon or a bible study. The gathering ends at 10pm with prayer requests and a closing prayer.

Mission

Our mission is to invite the Malagasy community to deepen their faith with God through conferences, biblical studies, prayers, and testimonies. The Vondrom-bavaka DC is now part of the Malagasy church FMK-DC, having the same mission and value which is to serve the Malagasy community within the DMV area and  to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ within the Malagasy community.
