Tamin’ny faramparan’ny taon-jato faha 19 (1890 tany ho any) no nitrangan’ny fifohazam-panahy lehibe tao Soatanana, tanana andrefan’i Fianarantsoa. Sambany no nisy izany fifohazam-panahy lehibe izany teo amin’ny tantaran’i Madagasikara.
Nohon’ny asan’ny Fanahy Masina dia maro ireo “nifoha” nandray ny filazantsara, ka niova tanteraka ny fombam-piainan’izy ireo. Anisan’izany ny fanariana ny fomban-drazana sasany izay tsy mifanaraka amin’ny finoana kristiana. Taty aoriana, ary amin’ny vanim-potoana samihafa, dia nitrangan’izany famangian’ny Fanahy Masina izany koa ny toerana maro tany Madagasikara. Izany dia manamporofo ny maha- asan’Andriamanitra sy asa masina azy.

II- NY MPIKAMBANA AO AMIN’ NY FIFOHAZANA
Ny fifohazana dia tsy fikambanan’olom-bitsy fa teny hilazana ny fiombonan’ireo kristiana, na fiangonana, nandray fifohazam-panahy.
Ny Mpiandry
Ny Mpiandry dia ireo olona nandray antso manokana hitory ny filazantsara ary koa hanatanteraka ny “asa fandroahana demonia sy fametrahan-tanana”(Asa sy Fampaherezana) araka ny didin’i Jesoa Kristy ao amin’ny Marka 16:15-18 manao hoe,
“Ary hoy Izy taminy: Mandehana any amin’ izao tontolo izao hianareo, ka mitoria ny filazantsara amin’ ny olombelona rehetra. Izay mino sy atao batisa no hovonjena; fa izay tsy mety mino no hohelohina. Ary izao famantarana izao no hanaraka izay mino: hamoaka demonia amin’ ny anarako izy; hiteny amin’ ny fiteny izay tsy mbola hainy izy; handray menarana izy; ary na dia misotro zava-mahafaty aza izy, dia tsy hampaninona azy izany; hametra-tànana amin’ ny marary izy, dia ho sitrana ireny”.

III- Ny ASA FIFOHAZANA eto amin’ny FMK-DC
Tamin’ny taona 2018 dia nangetaheta ny hisian’ny fotoam-pifohazana ary nitondra izany am-bavaka ny mpiangona vitsivitsy eto amin’ny FMK-DC. Nivaly ny vavaka natao.
Koa ny 27 Jolay 2018, tamin’ny 7 ora hariva no natao ny fotoam-pifohazana voalohany teto amin’ny Wesley Chapel, 4500, Massachussetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016. Olona 20 mahery kely teo ho eo no nanatrika izany fotoam-pivavahana misy Asa sy fampaherezana izany. Mba hahazoana mitaona olona maro kokoa, dia nafindra amin’ny 2ora tolakandro, alohan’ny fotoam-pivavahana faran’ny volana ny fotoana ary indray mandeha isaky ny 2 volana.

“Fifohazana”: “Awakening” or “Revival”
I- MISSION
The “Fifohazana “mission aligns with that of the FMK-DC that is “to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, for the glory of the one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
Historical background:
In the late 1800s, a spiritual breakthrough has changed the community of Soatanana (West Fianarantsoa – Madagascar) with an unprecedented spiritual revival (Fifohazam-panahy) taking place in Madagascar.
As the Holy Spirit was at work, many people (the Fifohazana) were experiencing radical changes in their lives, leading them to question and live away ancestral traditions in conflict with their “new” Christian faith. Later, at different periods of time and in different parts of Madagascar, the same spiritual experience was recurring, as an evidence of a divine and holy work. As the Fifohazana are working closely with their congregation, the Malagasy fifohazana community in the DMV area is sharing the same mission with FMK-DC in preaching the good news of Jesus Christ and being a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ.
II- DESCRIPTION OF THE FIFOHAZANA COMMUNITY
The Fifohazana is not a closed group. It is a community of Christians, or a congregation, who has been experiencing a spiritual revival.
The Mpiandry (Shepherds):
The Mpiandry (Shepherds) are those who have answered to the Holy Spirit’s call to preach the good news and to perform the “Asa sy Fampaherezana” (casting out demons and laying on of hands) in response to Jesus’ commandement in Mark 16:15-18,
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
After one or two years of spiritual training in their congregation of origin, the Mpiandry are consecrated during a commissioning ceremony at the Toby, a healing center where the Fifohazana gather once a year for the Mpiandry’s commissioning. A Toby is also a spiritual retreat center. There are 4 major Toby in Madagascar. Approximately, FMK-DC has six shepherds among its members. They are originally from the Malagasy Presbyterian Church (FJKM), and the Malagasy Lutheran Church (FLM).
III- FMK-DC and The ASA FIFOHAZANA (Fifohazana activities)
In 2018, FMK-DC church members were prayerfully considering about starting a spiritual revival meeting at Massachusetts Ave. Their prayers were answered.
On July 27, 2018, at 7pm, the first Fifohazana worship gathering was held in Wesley Chapel, 4500 Massachussetts Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016; two dozens of people showed up. To target a wider audience, following meetings have been scheduled at 2pm, in the afternoon, right before the FMK-DC worship, every other month.
The community of the Fifohazana is open to any people. FMK-DC members or visitors are welcome!
